Taliban’s morality police in Herat directed local mullahs to announce that, beginning June 6, female inspectors from the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice would patrol the city to enforce Taliban dress restrictions, including mandatory face coverings for women. On the first day of the operation, approximately 60 women and girls were detained. Protests followed the detentions, leading to further arrests.
