The Taliban’s Acting Deputy Minister of Finance, Abdul Qadir Ahmad, issued a statement that per their leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, all women civil servants will receive 5,000 AFN. 5000 AFN is the equivalent of about $65 a month.
Women in the majority Hazara province were told to comply with the new hijab mandate – covering head to toe in a black dress. The statement added that both women and their families were responsible for complying with the new rule and that violators would face punishment and imprisonment.
In another statement to all departments and offices of the government, the Ministry of Finance ordered that all women employees who are currently working but do not report as their male colleagues or do not perform duties according to their job description, will reduce salaries to 5,000 AFN.
In a statement, Taliban’s Vice and Virtue authorities told women in Faryab province that they were no longer permitted to visit parks.
